Our recent collaboration work with the team from TU Dublin led by Dr. Mikhail Filtove is published now in Jornal of Material Chemistry C. In this work, a novel heavy-atom-free BODIPY forming triplet excited states via spin-orbit charge transfer intersystem crossing (SOCT-ISC) was used as a sensitizer component of a photo-initiating system for the polymerization of methacrylate monomers inside a hybrid sol-gel material. Holographic recording of diffractive structures with high diffraction efficiency and stability was demonstrated. By using the transient absorption spectroscopy we quantified the triplet generation and recombinationdynamics in this system.
